Wherever there are children enjoying themselves and being
entertained by their favourite, then its a pretty sure bet that Dave
Benson-Phillips won't be too far away.
Over the last nine years, Dave has become one of the most popular
children's presenters and entertainers in the UK.
He started his career in 1982 presenting magical and musical shows
for children and spent two years performing at the famous Polka
Children's Theatre in Wimbledon. His talents soon became notices
and he was asked to appear on LWT's "Saturday Action".
This led to Dave appearing at the Bournemouth BIC in the
spectacular production of Las Vegas Express, and soon after, at the
London Palladium to over two thousand children. In 1990 Dave was
very proud to appear with Terry Wogan as co-presenter for
"Children in Need".
Television appearances soon followed culminating in a five year run
in the ever popular "Playdays" for the BBC. This led to appearances
in "Nick Jr" for Nickelodeon, "Cat's Eyes", "Q & A" and "Go for
IT" for BBC, "Ratkan" and "Jack in the Box" for Sky and his own
successful BBC series "Get your own Back" now in its seventh year.
Dave has also featured in many radio programmes including BBC's
Popular "Playtime".
As one would expect, Pantomimes have featured very heavily in
Dave's career including appearances in the star comedy roles of
"Muddles", "Simple Simon", and "Idle Jack". Last year Dave
played "Muddles" in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at the
Hexagon Reading where he was a resounding success.
Throughout his hectic schedule, Dave has always found time for
children with special needs and has recorded a Makaton Video. He
also donates many hours of charity work both her and overseas.
1997 was extremely busy for Dave with guest appearances at Butlins,
a tour of his very popular one man show, a new series of "Get your
own Back", yet another video for "The Fun Song Factory", plus
another series of the very exciting Saturday morning breakfast show
for the Walt Disney Corporation "Wake up in the Wild Room" and
another show for Disney called "Honeypot".
All in all, for a boy who started body poppin', roller skating and
escapology, Dave has become phenomenally successful, and is a
particularly good role model for children of all ages.
